Objective of SMS sender mobile application

The objective of creating an SMS Sender mobile application with MIT App Inventor is to develop a simple and practical app that enables users to send text messages (SMS) directly from their mobile device. This project aims to:

1- Teach users how to use the SMS component available in MIT App Inventor for sending messages.

2- Allow users to enter a phone number and message text and send the message easily.

3- Demonstrate the use of text input fields, buttons, and event handling in app development.

4- Help beginners understand mobile communication features and permissions required for sending SMS.

5- Provide a hands-on project that shows how to build functional, real-world mobile applications using MIT App Inventor’s visual programming environment.

Description of application designer interface

The Designer Interface in MIT App Inventor is where the visual layout of the SMS Sender app is created. It includes all the components users will see and interact with on the screen.

Main Components Used

1. TextBoxMessage

For the user to type the SMS message content.

Properties:

Hint: “Type your message here”

2. Button Component

ButtonSend

Text: “Send”

Purpose: User taps this button to send the SMS.

3. Texting Component

A non-visible component.

Handles sending the text message when triggered.

Description of application blocks part

The Blocks part in MIT App Inventor defines how the app behaves when users interact with it. For the SMS Sender app, the blocks ensure that when the user clicks the Send button, the SMS is sent to the specified phone number with the entered message.

Explanation of Each Block

Block

Description

The block is an event handler in MIT App Inventor. It defines what should happen when the user taps the “Send” button in the mobile application such as in an SMS Sender app.

The block copies the message text typed by the user into Texting component for sending the SMS.

This block Assigns the phone number entered to send the SMS.

This block sends the SMS immediately.
